LG raised the threshold for high-end Android smartphones earlier this year, with its flagship G6 being the first to take 18: 9 (or 2:1)aspect ratio.
If a new report from South Korea is believed, LG may choose the OLED panel as the next high-end smartphone v30.
The shift to OLED panels is said to be a way to match Samsung in the smartphone market.
The investor quoted industry sources as saying that South Korean companies could launch the LG V30 with OLED display in the second half of 2017.
Most of the OLED screens produced at the LG Display plant will be used for the LG v30, the report said.

\"Runners like Samsung and Apple,\" the report quoted sources as adding . \".
The company is expected to start producing OLED panels from July, which will replace the LCD display used on LG smartphones.
The report says LG will try to match rival Samsung, which currently uses OLED in its smartphones at nearly 70%.
\"It may take some time for LG Display to reach a similar yield for its rival Samsung Display.
\"There are a number of issues that need to be addressed, such as patents and supply chains for OLED devices and materials,\" the report quoted a monitor analyst as saying . \".
It is worth noting that this will not be the first time LG has used OLED panels on smartphones, as the lg g Flex launched in 2013 is its first phone with OLED panels.
The report further speculated that LG may use OLED panels on its next-generation flagship smartphone, which is unlikely to launch by 2018.
