What Is a COB LCD Display?
A COB (Chip-on-Board) LCD display is a liquid crystal module in which the driver/controller IC is bonded directly to the printed circuit board and connected to the LCD glass by fine wires, then encapsulated with a protective resin. This is in contrast to COG (Chip-on-Glass), where the IC sits directly on the glass. COB construction offers excellent mechanical durability, straightforward assembly, and proven long-term reliability, and is widely used in character and graphic LCD modules.
