What Is an I2C Display?
An I2C display is a screen that receives data from a host controller using the I2C serial protocol. The interface requires only two signal lines — SDA (data) and SCL (clock) — plus power and ground, allowing multiple devices to share the same bus. Most I2C displays integrate a driver IC and onboard RAM (GRAM), and many include a built-in character generator or font IC, further reducing the host's workload.
